Dicentra spectabilis 'Alba', or white bleeding heart, is a shade-loving perennial prized for its arching stems adorned with pure white, heart-shaped flowers. Blooming in late spring to early summer, it thrives in part shade and moist, well-drained soil. Like its pink counterpart, it may go dormant in midsummer, making it a perfect companion for hostas and ferns. Deer-resistant and easy to grow.

Growing and Maintenance Tips for Dicentra Spectabilis Alba (Ships in Spring)

Planting: Plant bare roots or divisions in early spring or fall. Set roots 2 to 3 inches deep and space 12 to 24 inches apart, depending on the variety. Ensure the crown is just below the soil surface.
Location: Prefers partial to full shade. Ideal for woodland gardens, shaded borders, or under deciduous trees.
Soil: Moist, well-drained, humus-rich soil with a slightly acidic to neutral pH (5.5–7.0). Amend with compost to improve texture and fertility.
