Eranthis Flower Bulbs

Eranthis, commonly known as winter aconite, is a low-growing, tuberous perennial that bursts into bloom in late winter to early spring, often pushing through snow to reveal bright yellow, cup-shaped flowers. Each bloom is surrounded by a collar of fern-like green bracts, creating a charming, miniature rosette effect.

Native to southern Europe and parts of Asia, Eranthis thrives in full sun to partial shade and moist, well-drained, humus-rich soil. It’s ideal for naturalizing under deciduous trees, where it can take advantage of early-season light before the canopy fills in.

This plant is deer-resistant, cold-hardy, and a true spring ephemeral—its foliage fades by late spring, allowing other perennials to take the stage. Best planted in late summer to early fall, the tubers benefit from an overnight soak before planting.
