Hyacinthoides Flower Bulbs

Hyacinthoides, commonly known as bluebells, are spring-blooming bulbs celebrated for their nodding, bell-shaped flowers and ability to form sweeping carpets in woodland settings. The most well-known species include Hyacinthoides non-scripta (English bluebell) and Hyacinthoides hispanica (Spanish bluebell), both offering clusters of violet-blue, pink, or white blooms atop slender, upright stems.

These bulbs thrive in partial shade to full sun and moist, well-drained soil, making them ideal for naturalized plantings beneath deciduous trees, shaded borders, and wildflower meadows. Hyacinthoides are deer-resistant, low-maintenance, and naturalize easily through both seed and bulb offsets, creating dense, long-lasting displays over time.

English bluebells tend to have narrower, more pendulous flowers with a sweet fragrance, while Spanish bluebells are larger, more upright, and less scented—and the two can hybridize in mixed plantings.
