Freesia Flower Bulbs

Fall-planted freesia corms—especially in Zones 9–10—produce gracefully arching stems lined with funnel-shaped, citrus-scented blooms in shades of white, yellow, pink, red, purple, and blue. These tender perennials thrive in full sun to partial shade and well-drained, sandy soil, blooming from late winter to early spring with 6–12 flowers per stem.

To plant, choose unprepared (non-heat-treated) corms in late summer or early fall. Plant them 2 inches deep and 3 inches apart, with the pointed end up. In mild climates, they can remain in the ground year-round and naturalize over time. Their sweet fragrance and upright form make them ideal for borders, containers, and cutting gardens.

Freesias are deer-resistant, moderately drought-tolerant, and especially prized for their long vase life.
