Chrysographes

Iris chrysographes, commonly known as black iris, is a unique perennial prized for its velvety, deep purple to nearly black flowers with delicate gold markings. Blooming in late spring to early summer, it thrives in moist, well-drained soil and prefers partial shade to full sun. Unlike other iris species, it offers a bold, dark color that stands out in shaded borders and woodland gardens. Native to Southern China and Myanmar, it is well-suited to bog gardens and damp landscapes.
