Scilla Siberica 'Spring Beauty'
Siberian Squill
Scilla siberica, commonly known as Siberian Squill, is a bulbous perennial native to southwestern Russia, the Caucasus, and Turkey. Despite its name, it is not native to Siberia.
This early-spring bloomer produces nodding, bell-shaped flowers in intense blue hues, with 2–5 blooms per stem. The strap-shaped leaves emerge alongside the flowers, creating a striking contrast. It thrives in full sun to partial shade and prefers well-drained soil.
Scilla siberica is extremely winter-hardy, surviving in Zone 2, and naturalizes rapidly, forming large drifts that return year after year. It has received the Royal Horticultural Society’s Award of Garden Merit, highlighting its reliability and beauty.
