I have worked with A.D.R. Bulbs for almost 5 years now, and my company has sourced bulbs with them for longer than that. Communication is great - from ordering, to deliveries, to follow-ups on final product. I love the quality of the product as well as the service. We plant nearly 100,000 bulbs and A.D.R. keeps the whole process easy for us!

Ornithogalum 'Arabicum'

Star of Bethlehem

Ornithogalum arabicum, commonly known as Arabian Star Flower, is a bulbous perennial that produces luminous racemes of up to 15 star-shaped, white or creamy-white flowers, each adorned with a contrasting black center. Blooming in late spring to early summer, these waxy-looking blossoms rise above blue-green, strap-shaped foliage, creating a striking display.

Thriving in full sun and fertile, well-drained soil, Ornithogalum arabicum is deer-resistant and one of the longest-lasting cut flowers. It naturalizes well and is best suited for mixed borders and containers in regions with warm, dry summers.

Growing and Maintenance Tips for Ornithogalum 'Arabicum'

Planting: Plant bulbs in fall in warm climates (zones 8–10) or in spring in cooler zones. Set bulbs 4 inches deep and 3 to 4 inches apart, with the pointed end up.
Location: Full sun to light shade. Choose a warm, sheltered spot—ideal for Mediterranean-style gardens or containers.
Soil: Well-drained, loamy soil with a pH of 6.0–7.5. Add grit or compost to improve drainage.
Watering: Water after planting and during active growth. Keep soil moderately moist but never soggy. Reduce watering after flowering and during dormancy.
Temperature: Hardy in USDA zones 7–10. In colder zones, lift bulbs in fall and store in a cool, dry place.
Fertilization: Apply a balanced fertilizer at planting and again in early spring. Avoid overfeeding—too much nitrogen can reduce flowering.
Pruning: Remove spent flower stalks and yellowing leaves in summer.
Propagation: Multiplies by offsets. Divide clumps every few years in late summer or fall.
Pest & Disease: Generally pest-free. Ensure good drainage to prevent bulb rot.
