Ligularia 'The Rocket' is a moisture-loving perennial with tall spikes of bright lemon-yellow, daisy-like flowers held on contrasting black stems. Blooming in mid to late summer, the flowers rise above a dense mound of large, heart-shaped, deeply toothed green leaves, adding strong vertical interest to shaded gardens. Thriving in part shade to full shade, this award-winning plant prefers rich, consistently moist soil and is ideal for borders, pond edges, and woodland gardens.

Planting: Plant in spring or fall. Set crowns just below soil level and space 24 to 36 inches apart.
Location: Partial shade is ideal. Morning sun is fine, but protect from hot afternoon exposure to prevent wilting.
Soil: Moist, rich, well-drained soil with a slightly acidic to neutral pH (6.0–7.0). Thrives in boggy or consistently damp areas.
Watering: Keep soil consistently moist. In dry spells or full sun, leaves may wilt—regular watering is essential.
Temperature: Hardy in USDA zones 4–8. Cold-tolerant and long-lived once established.
Fertilization: Apply compost or a balanced fertilizer in early spring. Avoid high-nitrogen formulas that encourage floppy growth.
Pruning: Deadhead spent flower spikes to encourage tidiness. Remove yellowing leaves as needed. Cut back to the ground in late fall or early spring.
Propagation: Divide clumps every 3 to 5 years in spring to rejuvenate and multiply.
Pest & Disease: Generally pest-free, though slugs and snails may nibble on the large leaves.
