Leucojum 'Gravetye Giant'

Giant Snowflake

Leucojum aestivum 'Gravetye Giant' is a robust selection of summer snowflake, reaching 20 to 24 inches in height. It produces 4 to 8 large, nodding white flowers with green-tipped tepals, blooming in mid-to-late spring. The blooms are mildly chocolate-scented, adding a subtle fragrance to garden spaces.

This variety thrives in full sun to part shade and prefers moist, well-drained soil. It is deer-resistant and naturalizes well, making it an excellent choice for woodland gardens, pond edges, and mass plantings.

Growing and Maintenance Tips for Leucojum 'Gravetye Giant'

Location: Partial shade to full sun. Performs best in moist, lightly shaded woodland-style settings.
Soil: Moist, well-drained, humus-rich soil with a neutral to slightly acidic pH (6.0–7.0). Tolerates heavier soils better than many bulbs.
Watering: Keep soil moist during active growth in spring. Reduce watering after foliage yellows—bulbs prefer dry summer dormancy.
Temperature: Hardy in USDA zones 5–9. Cold-tolerant and long-lived once established.
