Dahlia 'Mingus Alex' is a dinnerplate variety with bold, 8 to 10 inch blooms in deep burgundy-red, often described as a “red ruffle explosion.” The fully double flowers have slightly recurved petals that give them a plush, layered appearance—perfect for dramatic garden displays and striking cut arrangements. This tall grower reaches about 48 to 56 inches and produces long, sturdy stems ideal for cutting. It thrives in full sun with well-drained soil and blooms from midsummer until frost. Hardy in USDA zones 8 to 11.
