Agapanthus ‘Galaxy Blue’ is a vigorous, cold‑tolerant hybrid prized for its large, saturated blue flower heads that appear in mid‑summer. Dense, rounded clusters of starry blooms rise on sturdy stems reaching 24 to 36 inches tall, each floret about 2 inches across with a rich, luminous blue tone. The plant forms a robust clump of broad, strap‑like green foliage that stays tidy through the season. This hardy selection performs reliably in cooler climates and is suitable for USDA zones 6–10.
Planting Time: In warm climates, plant in fall; in cooler regions, plant in spring after the last frost.
Location: Choose a sunny to partly shaded spot with well-drained soil.
Spacing & Depth: Plant rhizomes 2 inches deep and 12 to 18 inches apart.
Soil Conditions: Prefers sandy loam with a pH between 5.5 and 7.5.
Watering: Keep soil moist but not soggy; drought-tolerant once established.
Fertilization: Apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring to support strong blooms.
Dividing: Divide plants every three years after blooming to maintain vigor.
Winter Care: In colder climates, mulch heavily or grow in containers to bring indoors.
Pest & Disease Resistance: Generally deer-resistant, but avoid excessive moisture to prevent rot.
Companion Planting: Pairs well with ornamental grasses, daylilies, and lavender.
